Patrick Mid­den­dorf is the foun­ding part­ner of PMP Rechts­an­wäl­te AG. He advi­ses and liti­ga­tes in con­tract law, par­ti­cu­lar­ly con­trac­tor agree­ments and man­da­te law. He has many years of expe­ri­ence in cons­truc­tion mat­ters under pri­va­te law, focu­sing on SIA stan­dards and KBOB contracts.

Patrick Mid­den­dorf assists his cli­ents in the plan­ning and rea­lizati­on of large-scale cons­truc­tion and infras­truc­tu­re pro­jects (e.g., hos­pi­tal buil­dings, admi­ni­stra­ti­on buil­dings, muse­ums, tun­nel cons­truc­tion, plant engi­nee­ring). He also acts as a media­tor and arbitrator.

Patrick Mid­den­dorf stu­di­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Fri­bourg (Switz­er­land) and Amster­dam (Net­her­lands). From 1998 to 2001, he work­ed as an assi­stant to Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Peter Gauch at the Chair of Civil and Com­mer­cial Law and the Insti­tu­te for Cons­truc­tion Law at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Fribourg.

After a stu­dy visit at the Max Planck Insti­tu­te for Pri­va­te Law in Ham­burg in the fall of 2001, he obtai­ned his doc­to­ra­te in law in the spring of 2002 (“Nach­wir­ken­de Ver­trags­pflich­ten”, diss. Frei­burg 2002, sum­ma cum lau­de). Patrick Mid­den­dorf was admit­ted to the Zurich Bar in Febru­ary 2004 and qua­li­fi­ed as a spe­cia­list att­or­ney SBA Cons­truc­tion and Real Estate Law in March 2017.

In the sum­mer seme­ster of 2007, he was a lec­tu­rer at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Fri­bourg (Switz­er­land) for extra-contractual lia­bi­li­ty law. From the begin­ning of 2007 until June 2015, he hea­ded the office of the Zurich Bar Asso­cia­ti­on. From 2013 to 2020, he was a mem­ber of the Board of Tru­s­tees of the Foun­da­ti­on for Legal Edu­ca­ti­on in Lucer­ne, which aims to pro­vi­de trai­ning and fur­ther edu­ca­ti­on for lawy­ers who work in indu­stry, judi­cia­ry, and the legal profession.

In the sum­mer of 2017, the SBA Board elec­ted Patrick Mid­den­dorf to the SBA Cons­truc­tion and Real Estate Law Expert Com­mis­si­on. The commission’s task is to eva­lua­te the can­di­da­tes for admis­si­on to the SBA Cons­truc­tion and Real Estate Law Spe­cia­lizati­on Cour­se and to con­duct the expert dis­cus­sions to award the tit­le of spe­cia­list att­or­ney. Sin­ce mid-2020, he has co-chaired the Expert Group for Cons­truc­tion Law of the Zurich Bar Asso­cia­ti­on. The ZBA’s spe­cia­list groups are available to all mem­bers for in-depth stu­dy and brushing-up of know­ledge. He is also an acti­ve lec­tu­rer in the CAS cour­se “Bauvertrags- und Ver­ga­be­recht für Planungs- und Bau­fach­leu­te, orga­ni­zed by the Insti­tu­te for Swiss and Inter­na­tio­nal Cons­truc­tion Law at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Fribourg.

Sin­ce the begin­ning of 2024, Patrick Mid­den­dorf has ser­ved as a mem­ber of the Ethics Court of the Zurich Bar Asso­cia­ti­on. As the association’s inter­nal disci­pli­na­ry court, the Ethics Court reviews and eva­lua­tes the mem­bers of the Zurich Bar Asso­cia­ti­on in the light of att­or­neys’ rules of conduct.

Patrick Mid­den­dorf is regi­stered with the Att­or­ney regi­stry of the Can­ton of Zurich. He is a mem­ber of the Zurich and Swiss Bar Asso­cia­ti­ons, the Cham­ber of Spe­cia­list Att­or­neys SBA Cons­truc­tion and Real Estate Law, and the Zurich Lawy­ers’ Association.
